We’re approaching that time of year when we will have to cut a lot of the wood into our yards.
For my money, I feel a good chainsaw really can do the job best, which is why I recently decided to look for a brand new one. So I decided to try out the Timberpro chainsaw, and I’m glad that I did.
Gas-powered chainsaws like this one really do pack a lot more power, and you don’t really have to worry about charging them or being encumbered by a long cord as the electric chainsaw. In this guide, I’m going to cover the Timberpro 62cc 20″ Petrol Chainsaw so that you can understand what a great power tool it is.
Timberpro 62cc 20″ Petrol Chainsaw
As the need for time firewood and the removal of yard debris fast approaches, many of us can really use a product like the Timberpro.
This power tool has the ability to quickly cut through the wood so that you can move on to the next piece with relative ease. As a petrol-powered product, the Timberpro is designed to be used quickly and with the convenience of being completely cord-free.
This product is more than adequate when used for both professional and domestic usage and actually, comes with two chains so that you can replace them quickly when they degrade over time.
It packs in a 62cc petrol engine and has a 20-inch blade, which should be more than adequate for most wood cutting jobs. In fact, you should be able to manage larger cuts with this with relative ease.
Additionally, the Timberpro doesn’t require a lot of assembly. You’ll have to install the dog spikes using the included Allen key, but once this is done, all you’ll have to assemble is the blade itself. As mentioned, the bar is 20 inches in length and installs very snugly into the body of the chainsaw.
The product comes with several Allen keys, screwdrivers, bolts, chainsaw dog spikes, an extra chain, an all-in-one scrench, and a file for sharpening your chains.
It also comes with a mixing bottle so that you have a way to measure your two-stroke mix. Overall, the included tool kit and accessories make this a complete chainsaw kit that’ll provide a lot of functionality right out of the box.
Features and Benefits
Operator Presence Lever
When you’re cutting wood, and even when you’re done, it’s important to have a device that has your safety in its design philosophy.
The TImberpro has an operator presence lever at the top of the large orange power unit; this is designed to provide you with a sense of safety because it actively will shut the unit down if you lose control.
Effectively, this is a lever that is positioned atop the handle, and should your hand release this spring-loaded component, the chainsaw will immediately shut down.
Great Engine for Horsepower
When it comes to everyday functionality, one of the best features of the Timberpro is its amazing engine. It uses a 62cc air cooled two-stroke engine for cutting. You’ll be able to execute a lot of heavy duty work because this product’s engine also has a 3.6 horsepower operation.
The horsepower that it’s able to deliver is very impressive, especially when you consider the price of this device.
With the Timberpro, you’ll have no issue making short work of tree limbs, bucking logs, and general woodcutting. Admittedly, the device could be a little more fuel efficient, but overall, the engine does a great job providing you the power that you need to get the job done.
Timberpro chainsaw also has a chain break feature that can help keep you safe as you’re cutting and trimming. Kickback is one of the more dangerous events that can happen when using a chainsaw.
It can happen when the chainsaw unexpectedly gets propelled upwards and towards the operator. As you might expect, this is very dangerous, especially as kickback can be very sudden and oftentimes is violent.
This chain break feature will immediately stop the chain from spinning if any sort of kickback occurs during the cutting process. You can even operate this feature manually; simply push the guard down towards the guide bar and it’ll be engaged.
In my opinion, this is a very useful feature because losing control is one of the worst things that can happen during chainsaw operation, and it’s clear that the chain break and operator presence lever features really add a lot of safety to the usage of this tool.
One of my favorite features of this product is the presence of an included carry bag. The carry bag has several handles on it so that you can carry it very easily. The bag itself is also zippered so that you can really easily deploy and put away the Timberpro with relative ease.
Additionally, there’s more than enough room inside the carry bag to hold the included toolkit, which means that you can quickly adjust the dog spikes, remove the blade, tighten components without the need to go back to your shed.
The Timberpro really shines when compared to other gas-powered saws because of its lightweight design. Possibly as a result of its plastic outer shell, the Timberpro only weighs about 15 pounds, which means that you’ll experience less fatigue during use.
I’ve used a lot of chainsaws over the years, and it can be grueling work, so it’s pretty nice to see that the Timberpro has such a lightweight form factor. This also really boosts the power to weight ratio, which means that this product really handles very well.
Automatic Chain Lubricator
For many chainsaws, you have to remember to switch on the oil release that lubes up the chain between uses. This ensures that the blade and chains remain nice and lube up when in use.
While for me this isn’t much of a problem, I like the fact that the Timberpro has an automatic chain oil system that will ensure that the chain stays oiled properly; you can even use a screwdriver to adjust the amount of lubricant being deployed on the chain itself.
It’s important to remember that this chain oiler will stop adding lubricant to the chain when the tank gets to the 1/3 full mark, so you’ll have to remember to fill the tank as early as possible. Also, the tank isn’t translucent, so you’ll have to visually check inside of it from time to time.
As mentioned, the Timberpro comes with a toolkit that’ll let you adjust the settings on the chainsaw when needed, but it also comes with a few other components that make operating it much easier.
In addition to the kit, Timberpro also includes a plastic chain bar that allows for you to keep the bar covered when you’re transporting and storing the tool. This is another great safety feature that greatly reduces the chance of injury.
Additionally, the product also comes with a fuel mixing bottle that lets you measure out the precise 25:1 mixture of gasoline and two-stroke oil that’s recommended by the manufacturer.
Range of Speeds
When you’re cutting in the yard, it’s advantageous to have a lot of power, but having a good range of speeds is useful as well. The Timberpro has a range that is pretty extensive; in fact, it has an idle speed of 3,000 RPM and a max speed of 10,800 RPM.
One of the biggest complaints about electric chainsaws is their tendency to either need a cord or the fact that they just don’t have the power output of a good gas-powered device.
The Timberpro, while it isn’t the best on gas, is very reliable and powerful. You can take it anywhere with you, and as long as you keep it carefully and in good repair, it’ll cut wood for you for years. There’s no cord to get in your way, and there’s no need to remember to charge up a battery pack, so this is a very convenient chainsaw.
